Foot pressure plates in gait analysis equipment can record the pressure distribution of the foot sole when a person is standing still, walking, or in other states.
For example, they can detect areas with abnormal pressure, relatively low-pressure areas, high-pressure areas, and also track changes in the center of gravity.
This is very important for making custom insoles.
For example, for patients with flat feet or high arches, corrective designers need to design corresponding insoles to redistribute the pressure on the sole, making the pressure distribution more scientific and reasonable, and gradually correcting it back to a normal state.
For some gait problems, such as bow legs (O-shaped legs) or knock knees (X-shaped legs), the purpose of corrective insoles can also be gradually achieved by adjusting the pressure distribution of the insoles.
Of course, during the insole design process, it is best to use it together with a foot 3D scanner.
Because a foot pressure plate can only obtain foot pressure data and cannot obtain a three-dimensional model of the foot.
A foot 3D scanner, however, can obtain three-dimensional model data of the foot sole, such as STL files. These data can be directly imported into CAD insole design software for direct design, saving a large amount of time.
Nowadays, people’s living standards have improved, and they pay more attention to foot health. The personalized and customized market is growing larger and larger.
Therefore, foot pressure plates will inevitably have broader applications in the future.
